Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is a Malaysian politician who served as the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia from 1993 to 1998. Anwar was Leader of the Opposition during 2008-2015. He is a founder and the most towering leader of the People's Justice Party. He was removed from his political posts by the then Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. Thereafter, he was jailed in April 1999. He was released in 2004, and became the leading figure in organising the opposition into the 'Pakatan Rakyat.' Since 2015, he is serving a five-year prison sentence. Anwar has spoken about several political, social, human, rights, and economic issues from time to time.
